The Penitent Redeemed

…but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

Romans 7:23-24

Isaiah describes the condition of Israel as a nation filled with guilt. The human condition of our fallen nature perpetuates a cycle of sin where, like Paul, we do what we don’t want to do. (Romans 7:14-20) The Israelites had forsaken the Lord, and their condition was seemingly hopeless. Isaiah 1:27 gives us hope that the penitent will be redeemed. We sometimes feel hopeless and burdened with guilt, but Jesus Christ offers us a solution to our condition through His offer of forgiveness by His shed blood on the cross. (Hebrews 9:22)

Do you have the assurance that Christ has forgiven and redeemed your sins?

Heavenly Father,

Your Word says that ALL have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. (Romans 3:23) I recognize that I am part of the ALL who sins. Forgive me when I sin and forgive me when I fall short of turning back to You when I have fallen away. I accept You as my Savior and look forward to You as my Redeemer who brings me from the places of darkness into your glorious light. (I Peter 2:9)

In Jesus’ name, Amen
