Trusting God With Your Future
When the future feels uncertain, we can find peace in remembering that God knows your future. We may not know what comes next, but we can trust that He knows the end from the beginning and will faithfully lead us.
Don’t Assume You Know the Ending
In my quiet time this morning, I sensed the whisper of the Holy Spirit say to me:
Joanne, don’t assume you know the end from the beginning.
Trying to decide if that was really God’s voice, of course I did the next logical thing: I consulted Mr. Google and AI, asking what that meant. Now, I am not saying this is your best way forward when you are discerning God’s voice. The better way is to go back to the Lord and ask Him for the meaning.
Mr. Google’s answer from Wikipedia was: “One should not presume to know the outcome of an event that is still in progress.”
AI’s answer was: “This means resisting the temptation to write the ending of a story before it has unfolded. It is choosing not to treat your fears, expectations, or assumptions as facts.”
I decided I liked AI’s answer best — essentially, do not give in to your fears as you work through life’s problems or issues.
God Knows the End From the Beginning
Thankfully, I asked the Holy Spirit to reveal the Truth of Scripture, our only real source of Truth with a capital T. He reminded me of the Scripture in Isaiah 46:9–10.
“I am God, and there is none like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done.”
God is not confused about where your story is going. He is not wringing His hands, wondering what will happen. He knows the end from the beginning.
He created you, leads you, and has a plan and purpose for you. He is more than a symphony instructor; He is more than an engineer. He is your Creator and knows the song He wants you to play with your life. He knows the tune, the perfect notes, and the harmony because He created you.
When We Try to Write the Script
I think confusion enters when we try to write the script for our lives. We have so many options to choose from, and people’s opinions and AI to tell us what to do.
But God…
He has not left you in the hands of technology. He has given you a mind to be renewed by His Word and a desire to be captivated by His love.
I have to say that when I wrote the last line, I had to pause and just think about what I wrote. He wants our lives to be dependent on Him so that He can lead us out of confusion and into His will.
Keep Your Mind Fixed on Jesus
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
—Isaiah 26:3
Keeping our minds on Jesus and trusting Jesus is the path forward to finding peace and purpose. We do not need to know the end from the beginning. We simply need to trust God’s Word and keep our minds fixed on Jesus.
When uncertainty makes you want to write the ending yourself, remember that God knows your future. Follow Him one day at a time and one step at a time.
He will lead.
