Good morning Making Space for God friends! We have now entered the year 2017! I remember as a child thinking about the future and could hardly believe that there would be a day when we would enter the year 2,000. And here we are way beyond that. And…
Jesus’ crucifixion date, though exactness is uncertain, was approximately 1,986 years ago.
He was the light that came into the world offering us a way to the Father.
He was the hope of the world.
And 2,000 years later He still is.
As I prayed about the year 2017, I asked the Lord what was the word for the New Year. Every year I do this.
2014- was the year of the breakthrough (and boy was that true on all fronts!)
2015– was the year to let go of the old and embrace the new (again happened on all fronts)
2016 – was the year of the eagle and I have seen God move in ways that only He could do moving mountains and setting the eagles free to fly
And now 2017– the year of transformation. Are you ready? Am I ready? I am never ready but God is always true to His word and He fulfills His purposes. My mission is to love Him with all of my heart and He does the rest. Much easier that way. I like to think I can run the world but it never works out well for me.
Paul writes to the church in Galatia:
My dear children, for whom I am again in the pains of childbirth until Christ is formed in you. (Galatians 4:19)
For those of us that have birthed children you know that the pains of childbirth are oh so real. My first two children I went natural– no drugs for me. When my third child was about to be delivered I threw my sanctimonious attitude of going ala natural out the window. My cry this time was: ” Give me drugs!”
But in Paul’s day there was not such a thing as an epidural block to help with labor. When he used the metaphor of childbirth he meant: I will be in pain with no meds until Christ is formed in you. That is how much I want to see Christ formed in you.
Friends, get ready for the Holy Spirit to begin a new work in your life. The definition of transformation:
A thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance
