Show Us Your Glory

This week in our study, Living in God’s Presence, we talked all about God’s glory. We reviewed the story of Moses in Exodus 33 and the “crossroads” point of his life. We all face crossroads points in our life. If you’re not at one now, you will be. The most important crossroads we will encounter will be the one where we say God, all I want is you. Are you at that crossroads? As a people of God, we need to be in a place where we’re not asking “gimme gimme” but in a place of “God, show me your glory.”

So what is God’s glory? There’s no way to adequately describe or define glory because it is God. But a picture – or in this case, video – is worth a thousand words… Here’s a video that we watched in which John Piper describes the power of God’s glory.

Are you lonely? Are you feeling like you’re in a wilderness? We all face wilderness times but in the wilderness is where the glory is being manifest. So what does God’s Word say about the crossroads? Let’s look at Scripture —

Jeremiah 6:16

16 This is what the Lord says:

“Stand at the crossroads and look;
    ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
    and you will find rest for your souls.
    But you said, ‘We will not walk in it.’

Moses was at the crossroads. When we’re at the spiritual crossroads, that’s where we become emboldened. So let’s get practical. Here are some spiritual principles to remember as you stand at the crossroads:

  • Stand by the road – where is God?
  • Look for the path – where is His Presence?
  • Ask for the path – where is His glory/goodness/presence
  • Walk on the path – where He leads
  • You will find rest
In conclusion, I encourage you to look where God is and then go there. Move out to the place where you’re called and you’ll be surprised on His manifest call on your life.
