In our lives we will always experience change. As Christians we should respond differently to change than the world. As we grow to be more like Christ, pray and meditate on the Word, we will respond to transitions in our life in a way that will reflect the peace that the Lord brings.
The world is watching us as Christians….
The world is looking for peace and rest from the turbulence and fast paced world in in which we live. Trying to keep up can produce stress, anxiety and burn out. And you can be sure that this kind of pace is not the peace-pace led by the Holy Spirit. As I reflect on Jesus’ actions on earth, He never appeared to be in a hurry and never stressed. He got angry at some things such as the money changers in His Father’s house, but his pace was intentional, and always purposeful.
As believers, we have something to offer the world that the world cannot comprehend. The prince of Peace lives in us and our responses to life’s turbulence is to impart a kind of peace that passes understanding.
The world is watching us: Do we respond as the world? Or are we led by the spirit?
The world is longing for an anchor to keep them safe in rough harbors.
The world needs Jesus. The question is: What does the world see in us? We have an opportunity in this age to raise the standard of peace and bring people into the various circles in which we travel. Recently my Granddaughter asked me why I always seemed peaceful. That took me off guard because I do not see myself that way. I see myself as alarm bells ringing all the time– running here and there as if I were in a race. But she saw something different amidst my chaotic life.
As we move past this Easter season, let us hold on to Jesus’ words:
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. (John 14:27)
