Dear younger self,
A note from God:
I want you to know that you really are enough. I gave you just what you need to be successful in life. Striving is unnecessary; believing my promises in my Word is essential. There are days when you may think that you do not have enough talent or knowledge to complete a task, but I deposited in you everything you need.
My divine power has given you everything you need for a godly life through knowledge of him who called you by my glory and goodness (2 Peter 1:3 personalized)
Did you notice in this promise that you are called and chosen by God? I never expect perfection; only trust. I place you in situations that are difficult not only to test you, but to prove you, to prove that I have given you everything you need. Your stress, anxiety and needless worrying about raising children, your job, your finances are all under my Sovereign hand. The lessons are hard, but trust grows in the incubator of difficulty.
I want you to also know that life is short, at least on this side of heaven. It is just a dress rehearsal for the rest of your life with me. Rushing through to get to the next great thing is only rushing towards good things. Rushing towards great things can only be found by slowing down. Listen to my voice; read my Word, surrender to my love. Each intentional step toward me is a step toward greatness. Every good work you do for me is lovely, but every good work you do in me is what I want. If you keep rushing to the next good work, leaving me behind, you will miss the best, knowing me. Intentionally seeking me in the small things and big things by slowing down reveals the path in which you are called.

Seek first my kingdom and my righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33 personalized)
Younger self, I would say to you that life is precious and every day counts. Carless words or careless deeds do not add to your life; they subtract from it. Words of grace, good deeds, and lovingly considering others before yourself give a sense of joy like no other.
Do not negate yourself. Self-hatred or even negative thoughts can take you down the path in which the enemy causes you to shrink back from the beautiful person you are. God the Creator makes all things beautiful, so don’t be so hard on yourself.
And lastly, gratefulness has to be cultivated. With age comes wisdom, perspective, and gratefulness. Why not enjoy those things now? Don’t wait until you are older. You will miss out on such joy when you have a grateful heart.
I hope that you take to heart these things and remember even in your youth that I love you so much that I sent my very own Son to rescue you. Store His love in your heart. This kind of love will never run out.
Love,
The God who created you
Younger women, if my blog resonates with you, I invite you to become a part of Drawing Near to God community. We all need friends and mentors to help us slow down and receive from the Lord. Love for you to join us live on Thursday mornings (register) or start your own Drawing Near Bible study (learn more). We will walk alongside you whichever way you choose or are able. You are not called to walk alone.
