A People of Grace

Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstance to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.

I Peter 1:10-11

The prophets spoke of a time of grace when the Messiah would come bringing salvation to the people. They predicted His sufferings and the glory that would follow. (I Peter 1:10-11) Grace has been defined as “unmerited favor” – God’s favor that we do not deserve. It is only through belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and receiving Him into our lives through forgiveness of sin that we have salvation. The magnificent hymn, Amazing Grace, always brings me to tears as I reflect on how merciful the Lord has been to me.

Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!

I once was lost, but now am found;

Was blind, but now I see.

How have you experienced God’s abundant provision of grace in your life? Grace transforms us. Grace humbles us. Grace empowers us.

Heavenly Father,

Forgive me where I have taken Your grace in vain. Forgive me where I have not recognized Your grace in my self-centered world. Help me to remember the high cost You paid for me to have forgiveness and grace extended to me and help me to be a person that extends love and grace to others in return.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
