And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Hebrews 11:6
The godly men and women of the Old Testament prayed with great devotion to God, believing that He would hear their cry. Daniel, for example, prayed three times a day to God and believed that God would save him even when thrown in the lions’ den and in the fiery pit. The psalmist knew that God would answer his prayers: I waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. (Psalm 40) Hezekiah turned to prayer when faced with the armed Assyrians and all seemed hopeless, and God heard his cry and saved him and the people of Jerusalem. (Isaiah 37:21-35)
Jesus, God with flesh, came to earth and commended those with faith, those who would believe that through prayer that all things are possible with God. God not only hears our prayers, He also answers them. It may not be in the way we expect, but He will indeed answer!
Have you been praying for God to answer a prayer for some time now? As you pray, do you really believe that He hears your prayers? Do you believe that He desires to answer your prayers? The key is this: He wants you to delight in Him so that He can give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4) He wants you to be so close to Him that you will know His will and pray for His will to come and His kingdom to be released in your circumstances.
He wants you to be so connected to His heart that your prayers become His prayers and His prayers become your prayers. That is the prayer of the faithful; that is the prayer that moves heaven to invade earth.
Heavenly Father,
My prayers have been filled with selfish requests. I have not sought You as much as I sought for You to answer my prayers. I am turning back to You to love You, to know You, and to delight in You, and I know that You will take care of all my needs.
