From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do. (Isaiah 46:1)
Good morning, Making Space for God Community! Do you believe that God will do what He said He is going to do? This is an important question to ask ourselves…because if the answer is anything but a resounding ‘YES!’ it may be time to examine your life and discern what is keeping you from being able to trust God and His Word.
As you know, we are journeying through the book of Isaiah together – and what a journey it has been! This week, our lesson focused on the plans and purposes of God prevailing. I’m delighted to share some notes from my teaching…
How do we discover and live in to God’s purpose for our lives? Simply stated: it is a process. We must embrace the process of getting free (delivered) from the things that hold us back (trials) and move from captivity to freedom. It is from a place of freedom from the things that oppress us that we see God working out His purposes in our lives. Here are some of the steps in that process:
- Transformation through worship
- The Furnace of Affliction
- Restoration of Ruins (the Redeemer at work)
A ‘golden calf’ is anything you fashion with your own hands and becomes an object of worship. What golden calf have you fashioned and where has fear played a role in creating it? What fear drives you to build a golden calf?
Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the lord’s purpose that prevails. (Proverbs 19:20)
I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
