God’s Word

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

Psalm 119:105

Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17) Consequently, the more we meditate on God’s Word, the more our faith will increase. Psalm 119:11 says, I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. As we meditate on God’s Word, it is hidden deep within us, and when we need it and call it forth, we are able to stand in faith. How do we “call forth His Word?” Jesus modeled that for us in Matthew 4 when He was tempted by the devil. For every temptation that the devil threw at Him, He rebutted it with the Scriptures! As we grow in our knowledge of Scripture, we grow in our authority to stand against the enemy. Hebrews 4:12 says, The Word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword. If we want to increase our faith, we must meditate on God’s Word and remember that it is living and active in our lives.

Where do you have a need for God’s Word to be a light to your path?

Have you come to a crossroad and need to have direction? I remember a time when I was praying for direction. As I prayed, the Lord led me to this Scripture in Isaiah: I am the Lord your God who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to my commands your peace would have been like a river. (Isaiah 48:17-18) I realized at that moment that the Lord would direct me in the way I should go. My part was to be obedient, and the peace followed. God’s Word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path.

Heavenly Father,

Teach me Your Word so that I might not sin against You. Light up my path with Your Word and lead me in the way I should go.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
