The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in him we move and have our being.
Acts 17:24-28
Recently, we bought a new house before selling our old one. It has been several months since we purchased the new house, and my husband and I have been praying and seeking God’s will as to what we should do. I shared our struggle with a friend and she gave me this verse to hold on to:
God has determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. (v. 26) We had been considering putting both houses up for sale and trusting the Lord to give us whichever house he wanted for us to live in. This verse reminded me that God has determined the seasons and times of our lives and that he has a plan, even for where we are to live.
Luke writes in the book of Acts that God gives us breath and everything else. (v. 25) He is concerned with the details of our lives, and it is comforting to know that He has a great plan. Worrying does not add a thing to His plan!
One of the most profound verses in the Scripture above is that it is in God that we live, and move, and have our being. (v.28) Living in Christ means that all of the concerns of living are under His care.
Is there anything causing you to worry or be anxious? God’s Word has the answer; remember, Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (I Peter 5:7) God will take care of them. He cares for your life and desires that you move and live and have your being totally under the care of His loving Lordship.
Heavenly Father,
I have spent so much time worrying about (fill in the blank). I cast this anxiety up to You, knowing that You care for me. Help me to remember that I am in Christ and that You are in me.
