Love Never Fails

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

I Corinthians 13:1-2

Love never fails. Love is not just a duty; it is a destiny. Love flows from the heart of God, filling our lives and spilling onto others. We are unable to love unconditionally without the love of God flowing through our lives. The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, is a love story – a story of God whose sole desire is to be in relationship with us. When Adam and Eve sinned and broke fellowship with God, God prepared His Son to come to us in order to deliver us.

Jesus Christ came to restore our broken relationship with God, and His love, exemplified on the cross, poured over humanity. Love is the most powerful force on earth. It covers a multitude of sins and it carries the burdens of our losses. Love is our destiny. We are designed to love, and when sin disrupts our life, it disrupts the flow of love and we fail. But love never fails.

Three things remain: faith, hope, and love, and the greatest of these is love. (v.13) Paul writes in the book to the Romans that nothing can separate us from the love of God, For I am convinced that neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

If you feel separated from God’s love, remember that God’s love is ever present; it never fails.

Heavenly Father,

Soften my hardened heart and heal my wounds so that I can remain in Your love.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
