Miracles happen in the most unusual ways; often unseen and unnoticed but ever present. We pray for miracles don’t we? I know I do. But do we really believe that God will do it? I would like to challenge you today to think of miracles as little kisses from God every day often going unnoticed. When discovered, they are like miracles; not the miracles in biblical days such as the parting of the Red Sea or the Jordan river. No, every day miracles displaying God’s glory.
The definition of miracle is a surprising and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency. With this working definition of a miracle, let’s consider our daily encounters with God as things that happen in inexplicable ways and of a divine agency. The key is to have our spiritual eyes and ears open to see and hear the activity of heaven.
I am writing this blog overlooking the river this morning as the sun is setting and realizing that the river itself is a miracle. Even the birds in my bird feeder are a miracle and God is showing off His beautiful creation and order.

Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:26
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them…
And in Matthew 6:28
…Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil nor spin…
Sunsets, birds, and lilies; all the simple things that are around us are little God kisses. Our kids, whether they are small or grown, are miracles especially when we have our God moments with them. There are miracles happening around us every day, but often we do not see them. They all point to the miracle that Jesus Christ came to earth to be with us, save us, and empower us with His Holy Spirit. Miracle upon miracle.
I often go on cycling trips with my husband. Most of you who know me know that cycling is not my thing. But I go because he loves it so much. But every time I go, the slow pace of cycling through pastures, off roads, and remote villages cleans my kingdom lenses, helping me see God everywhere. He inserts His glorious life-giving Presence into our lives in the most subtle ways.
So today I challenge you to have a spiritual tune-up. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you God’s glory during the day. Ask Him to open your spiritual eyes and ears to embrace the goodness of God in the land of the living.
Yes I am confident, I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living (Psalm 27:13)
