My Big Fat Greek Wedding

In case some of you are unaware, I am of Greek descent. Have any of you seen the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding? If you haven’t its a must see. I have watched it over and over with my family and we laugh every time because it’s us!

My husband likes to say I am his Greek American princess. I like that title because I like to pretend I am a princess. Trouble is my life does not seem to reflect this. I mean the princess part. However the Greek part is a different story. I thought you might like to drop inside of my home and see how much fun we have. I have two sisters, an amazing Mom still alive, and a Daddy that was like none other. Add to this three children who are half Greek and many grandchildren (I never get that number correct) and we have a recipe for loud and funny and… I would rather not say.

Here are a few of them.

And some others….

My family tends to talk all at once and my husband who is a bit quieter says he is exhausted when we get together. I love it.
God designed family. Think about it. He was born into a family. He had a Dad, Joseph, and a mother Mary, and siblings. I’m certain that he dearly loved His earthly family. However He came from another family; the Holy Trinity. We see Him in the beginning in Genesis with His family in the Creation story. We hear Jesus’ words in the New Testament telling us that one day He must return to His Father, God. He loved His family on earth, but His destiny was with His family in heaven.

Many of you reading this have lost family members. Perhaps even due to this pandemic. My Dad went to be with Jesus a year ago, and every day my sisters, mother and I miss him. Love is like that. If we did not love, we would not hurt when they leave us.

But I want to focus on our destiny with our eternal family. I can hardly imagine seeing Jesus and my family members with Him! Though we live on earth for a short time, our true home as believers is in heaven. As we live our lives on earth, we live as strangers waiting for our eternal home. Jesus describes it as an awesome place.
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? (John 14:2).

Friends, during these uncertain times are you certain that you will be with the Father in heaven? Are you certain that your beloved family will be there? If there is any uncertainty, turn to Jesus. His arms are open. And in the meantime, while on earth, enjoy your family. Mine may be loud and emotional and a bit over the top, but they are my people, my tribe, and I love them dearly.

Just beautiful! The message and, especially all those lovely ladies. Made me homesick for my family; I had a big one and now am left alone — so my heart soared to know God has blessed you so…………………………..beautiful ladies and lovely, happy looking children.
