Removed Hindrances

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1-2

In chapter eleven of Hebrews, we find a list of men and women of faith. They were able to overcome obstacles because they trusted God. They were willing to press through obstacles to their faith and believe God for the impossible. Obstacles of unbelief hold us back from walking in God’s confidence. God’s Word promises us that He will remove obstacles from our lives as we seek Him. Hebrews 12: 1-2 reminds us that we are surrounded by men and women of faith who are an example to us of pressing on in our faith. When we open our hearts to the Lord, He reveals hindrances that stand in the way of our spiritual growth. Paul was able to preach boldly, without hindrance, the Word of God. (Acts 28:31) God will remove the obstacles in our lives as we come to Him in prayer so that we will not be hindered in the work He has called us to do.

I was at a retreat and had the privilege of watching young Christian leaders pray that the Lord would remove any hindrances in their lives. At the end of the weekend, I could see that they were free to move forward and boldly teach others about Jesus. I am so thankful that the Lord continues to work in us so that we can become free to be all that He calls us to be.

Heavenly Father,

When I read about the men and women of faith, I am inspired to be like them. Remove the obstacles in my life that keep me from walking in faith.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
