Seated in Heavenly Places

In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

Hebrews 1:1-3

Jesus was appointed heir of all things and is now seated at the right hand of God. Paul writes in Ephesians, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints and His incomparably great power for us who believe.

That power is like the working of His mighty strength which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand…” (Ephesians 1:18-20)

Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, and God has raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 2:6) The implications of being seated with Christ are too wonderful to comprehend!

In Christ, we are positioned in heavenly places and we live our lives from that position. Think about that for a moment. You are here on earth, but spiritually speaking, in Christ, you have access to heavenly resources! Our lives should be radically influenced by the knowledge that we are positioned to have influence for Christ in everything we do.

When you struggle in your job, when you deal with your difficult teenager, in whatever you face, you face it from a heavenly position with Christ! He is interceding for you, and He is reminding you that in Him you have position of influence. Why do we struggle with circumstances of life and find ourselves without hope? Because we have forgotten that in Christ, we have access to the very throne room of God! Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father and He sees our struggles; He endures our struggles and He delivers us from our troubles! The next time you feel hopeless and powerless over circumstances in life, look up and remember that you are seated with the King of Kings!

Heavenly Father, Help me to remember that I am seated with Christ in the heavenly realms. Help me not to live under my circumstances but overcome my circumstances as I live in the place to which You have called me. In Jesus’ name, Amen
