Sincere Worship

…let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Hebrews 10:22

Burnt offerings were offered every morning and every evening for all of Israel. (Exodus 29:38-42) The Hebrew name “minhah” for burnt offerings means “gift” or “sacrifice.” The Israelites worshipped God through sacrificing animals. God speaks through Isaiah telling the Israelites that their burnt offerings are meaningless. (Isaiah 1:11-13) God looks at our hearts to see if our attitude of worship is sincere or if we are simply going through the motions. Jesus replaced the Old Testament sacrifices once and for all.

(Hebrews 10:10)

How does knowing this encourage you to receive Jesus as the sacrifice for your sins and help you to worship God with a new heart? I pray that God will pierce our hearts and our worship will grow in sincerity and purity.

Heavenly Father,

Do I really know what worship means? When I read the Scriptures, am I worshipping You? When I pray, am I worshipping You? As I go through the routine of life, could that be worshipping You? Yes, I believe that in all things, in all circumstances, I am to live my life honoring, praising and worshipping You. To separate the life I lead from worshipping You would be impossible. I pray that I would grow in my desire to worship You with my whole life.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
