The Creative Godhead

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Genesis 1:26

Elohim, Creator God, by His spoken word created the heavens and the earth. He created mankind and entered into a covenant relationship to which He has been faithful in spite of mankind’s rebellion throughout the centuries. The Hebrew ending for Elohim is plural because it describes the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. At the beginning of creation, God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our own likeness”. (Genesis 1:26)

We also see the work of the Holy Spirit: The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the earth. (Genesis 1:21) and the presence of Jesus: For by Him all things were created. (Colossians 1:16) God is the Architect, Jesus the Builder, and the Holy Spirit is the One who breathes the life of God into the structure.

As Elohim, He is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, present at the creation, present now, and will be present forever!

Heavenly Father,

The understanding of the Trinity is complex to me. To know You as Father, Son and Holy Spirit is the desire of my heart. Father, I desire to know Your love; Son, I desire to know You as the branch connected to the vine; Holy Spirit, I desire to know You as the breath of life.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
