Finding God in Nature and His Creation
Yet He is actually not far from each one of us, for “In Him we live and move and have our being.”
— Acts 17:27–28
Where Can You Find God?
Where can you find God? Last time I wrote to you, I recounted finding God’s sweetness in a summer strawberry. Today, I saw God’s hand over busy bees working in a bed of wildflowers.
Over the last month, my focus has been to seek and find God wherever He will show Himself to me. At first, the times I noticed God were occasional. But with each notice, I made an effort to catalogue it in my mind.
Most days, I will pray and ask God to show Himself to me. I find that I begin to see Him more and more often over the ensuing weeks.
Finding God in Nature With My Daughter
My young daughter and I visited the community flower garden one morning. We kept a keen eye out for butterflies and saw two!
Much more numerous and visible than the butterflies were many bumblebees hard at work. Each one traveled from flower to flower, collecting pollen. The flowers were in full bloom and a beautiful sight to behold.
I remembered how delicate the balance of bees, flowers, the fruit and vegetable plants they pollinate, and mankind’s dependence on this precarious cycle is in order to fill our tables with food.
As I enjoyed nature with my daughter, I began to meditate on and enjoy God, who holds all things in His hands. God is the Creator who makes those flowers grow and the authority who tells the bees to go to work. He is the Author who conceived the idea of how all nature’s processes would work in harmony!
In addition, God not only has a much wilder imagination than the most talented artist, but He also holds infinitely more power than the highest king to put His plans into place!
Seeing God’s Power Through Creation
Everything around us has been made by God. The Bible tells us that we are able to see God’s eternal power and divine nature through everything that has been made (Romans 1:20).
But God gives you and me a choice. I can choose to see everything around me and worship the God behind it all, or I can choose to let my attention stop at creation itself.
Train the Eyes of Your Heart
God’s invitation today is to train the eyes of your heart! His fingerprint may start small as you set your intention to seek Him.
But as you come to recognize God’s signature, His handiwork will begin to converge from every direction you look into an undeniable testimony of His reality.
Finding God in nature may begin with one small moment, but the more intentionally we seek Him, the more clearly we begin to recognize His handiwork.
God is here with you today!
