Praise & Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!  While today is a special day of giving thanks, we must remember that it is not the only day to give thanks for all that the Lord has done. God inhabits the praises of His people! Below is an entry from my devotional, Sitting at His Feet, on thankfulness and how when we give thanks, we are making space for God within us.

Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel. (Psalm 22:3)

Thankfulness

Did you know that I inhabit the praise of my people? When you praise me, I rise up within you and fill the space of sorrow and discontentment. Praise and thanksgiving are the tools that are often left in the toolbox of life, and yet they are the tools that open heaven’s gates. When you pray, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,” you are asking me to establish on earth what is going on in heaven. Praise and thanksgiving are continuous in heaven. The heavenly choir sings praises to the glory of God in an eternal song of thanksgiving. Join the angels in heaven and praise me, for when you do my Presence draws nearer. I inhabit your praises and empower your thanksgiving causing you to mount up on the wings of eagles and run and not be tired. Your praises will energize your soul and impact your actions.

Psalm 22:3; Isaiah 40:30-31; I Thessalonians 5:16-18
